About Author

Dr. Alistair Mark, PhD, FAICP is a world-renowned urban theorist and practitioner with four decades of experience reshaping global metropolitan landscapes. He currently serves as the Distinguished Chair of Urban Regeneration at the Horizon Institute of Technology. Before entering academia, Dr. Mark spent fifteen years as the Chief Urban Strategist for the European Eco-District Initiative. There, he pioneered the "10-Minute Neighborhood" framework now utilized across thirty international cities. His practical consulting work spans six continents. He has advised municipal governments from Tokyo to Medellín on climate-resilient zoning, public transit integration, and equitable housing policies. Dr. Mark holds a Master's in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a PhD in Urban Sociology from Oxford University. He is a frequent keynote speaker at the World Urban Forum and lives in a carbon-neutral townhouse in Copenhagen.
